💡Conclusion:

Early-years interventions, such as Sure Start, provide a lifeline for the most vulnerable children in society. Investment in early-years is key, with lifelong benefit thereafter. It is an investment in a fairer and more equitable society.

🟢Neurodevelopmental Disorders: significantly improved symptoms of ADHD and Conduct Disorder, with long-term clinical stabilisation of symptoms. Utilised successfully as an agency for developmental delay screening.

Findings:

🟢Physical Health: reduction in obesity, hospital admissions, accidental injury, increase in breastfeeding. Improved dental hygiene.

🟢Social Function: better school academic performance, social functioning (some caveats for certain subgroups).

Background:

👉🏾Sure Start was created in 1999, a flagship New Labour policy.

👉🏾Aim: generate health, reduce social disadvantage, and address stark inequality .

👉🏾Since 2010/Austerity, Sure Start Centres have declined by 1416, usually in the most deprived areas.

Presiding over “Continued Professional Development events” for PAs, who apparently are not subject to career development — a justification for earning £14,000 more than qualified Doctors.

Apparently, “postgraduate training in Medicine” also includes MAPs: people who haven’t studied a single day of Medicine in their lives.

In some respects, I’m glad the career of certain sell-out Consultants, enabling this deadly experiment, is under siege. Needless to say, it’s our patients who will inevitably suffer.
