If it gets to impede your daily routine too much, I would always recommend trying to figure out what you want to eat for your next meal. Usually gets me from straining in my cage to a "productive member of society" in no time.

You could probably get one of the ultra-fine liner sharpies, they can dissolve with isopropyl alcohol should you need to part with your label 🧡

Unsure of the popularity of this idea, but only having one of the three lobby floors open for elevators (except for accessibility issues ofc) may be good. Yes, you would have a long line, but you know exactly how long it is and you get a guarantee that you're able to go up/down when it's your turn.

The elevator problem was pretty not great this weekend -- I felt myself getting rather irritated when people would call both up + down and just pick whichever one came first. Saw it more than 4 times throughout the length of the con.

And I get *why* someone would do it. It's also highly unethical.

I think that the sheer number of people was far above what I was expecting. Definitely left me feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated at times, but nothing that a bit more rest couldn't solve. I would probably prefer a smaller convention over this, but your results may vary!!

If it's your first year conning, networking is probably your best friend, and your focus. I was really lucky to have a few friends going in that melded me with their own friend groups, but I can definitely see how not having that would have been *far* more difficult to make new friends.

On the subject of food: if you're staying in a room with a fridge, I recommend bringing things like deli meats, cheeses, essentially things that can bring down your food bill rather than eating out for each meal. Food courts can have really good food, but can also be comparatively expensive.

I came in with pre-conceived motions of how the con would go, based on what I see on socials. Keep in mind that people generally share the good parts - the room parties, the huge group photos, the raves - but that's not all of what happens at these conventions. It's primarily food and hanging out!

The biggest elephant in the room was logistics. Lots of waiting lines, more than I was prepared for. I'd recommend trying to have some sort of entertainment prepped if you go to a panel or something alone. The virtual queue system was... interesting? I think it would have been great if polished.
