Last year for gifts I made "Fermented, and smoked, jalapeno, habanero, and lilikoi" hot sauce from ingredients from the farm and sent it out. This year I have to figure out a new plan! I was told I need to sell it, but it's so time consuming. #Hawaii #GardeningFeed

Went to check on the greenhouse today and the pepper plants didn't produce much and looked quite sad. Turns out something chewed through the main piping for the auto irrigation system from the catchments. Hand watered for now, will have to try to get parts this weekend. #Hawaii #GardeningFeed

It's getting into the 50s fahrenheit here, which means the poinsettias are turning red. They grow year round here and can get over 8ft tall. #Hawaii #GardeningFeed

In #Hawaii we have a lot of invasive plants and animals. Some are edible. Here are invasive raspberries(thimble berries). They grow everywhere and are edible. Being slightly bland, thin, and not as tasty as commercial varieties. I eat them / clear them when I'm out working on the farm #GardeningFeed

Some people are surprised that Apples grow in #Hawaii Our farm is located over 2000ft high on the side of a volcano. Certain apple varieties get enough chill hours. Here are a few flowers from one of the small trees. #GardeningFeed

About to cut the flower off of this banana. Cutting the flower lets the banana focus on growing the bananas it already has started. I usually bag the stalk later to keep the pests out + looking nice. Some people eat the flower, too. Anyone have a favorite way they prepare it? #Hawaii #GardeningFeed

From the harvest yesterday. Smoked peppers and local #Hawaii pasture raised cow brisket. Later I'll share some of the hot sauces I make too. #GardeningFeed
