I don't love The Studio - the humor is a bit broad, and the satire a bit too on the nose - but this was pretty great.

I don't need to say too much about this pie. I keep making it, and it's reliably great every single time.

This time I made it the night before, so it benefitted from a full 24 hours in the fridge. Came out perfectly.

200,000/10. This is outstanding pie.

O terrifying lords of the newborn year, I come before you with my first offering of this new era: a Grasshopper Pie.

May its booze-soaked combination of chocolate and mint be worthy of your approval.

My Switch 2 arrived! I did get Donkey Kong (which seems okay?) but the game I'm most interested in playing is...Breath of the Wild, a game I first played through on WiiU, then Switch 1.

The new features seem fine. Mostly it's the resolution and framerate that are exciting.

I was planning to bake a pie tonight for my wife's birthday tomorrow, but our cooktop stopped working. Repairman is coming this week, but I was all geared up and ready to go for a pie!

Day two of this pie, like most custard pies, is even better!

I mean, just look at this thing. Deeeeeelicious.

How I'm entering the new year.

O inebriated gods of the final days, I stagger before you to present my final offering of the year: a Holiday Eggnog Custard Pie.

May this alcohol-drenched delight bring you succor as we say farewell to 2025.

I'm loving all the New Vegas in Fallout season 2, and practically screamed when Victor showed up.

But it sucks that they recast the role. It's not like they couldn't have gotten William Sadler!

Whoever is doing the voice is fine, but he's no Sadler.

Seeing No Other Choice in 35mm at the Angelika today. Unfortunately the only seats we could get at the last minute are a liiiitle far back.

Times Square last night.

NYC in the snow is the best.

I'm not a huge Lego guy, but this is so cool. Lots of really nice touches.

Verdict on the French Apple Tart: so good! Incredibly apple-forward.

I've made tarts before, but this might be the best one I've ever done.

150,000/10. That's a fine tart.

You know I've been watching a lot of Bake-Off, because I did the dramatic side-pan drop. Alas, I didn't catch it on video.

Still, as the sailor said down by the docks, "That's a good looking tart!"

O pretentious gods of French patisserie, I humbly approach your glorious table with my latest offering: a French Apple Tart.

May this creation be worthy of being served alongside a baguette and a nice camembert.

Awwww yeah.

O bleak gods of the frigid December winds, I come before you today with my latest offering: a Boiled Apple Cider Pie.

May this simple, yet lovingly rendered creation be worthy of your approval.

O commercial lords of The Game Awards, in preparation for your annual ritual I have prepared this simple, yet decadent creation: a Grasshopper Pie.

May this alcohol-fueled creation help during this evening's ceremonies.

Update: as you'd expect, an extra 24 hours in the fridge let the pie set even more, resulting in some really beautiful layers.

Still tastes mostly of ganache, and the tea is as minimal as before. But it sure does look pretty now!

Also forgot the hashtag yesterday! #pieforthepiegods

Verdict on the Earl Gray Pie: it's...okay?

There's a layer of chocolate ganache, a layer of white chocolate mousse (both steeped in tea) and then whipped cream. And they actually set, which I'm still amazed by! But really all you taste is the ganache.

150/10. Interesting, but not great.

O fickle lords of the winter months, I toiled endlessly today to bring you my latest offering: The Earl Gray Pie.

May this impossible combination of tea, cream, and two kinds of chocolate be worthy of your approval.
