Finance Bulletin data comes from info we get daily from agency staff on receipts, but it is rechecked & adjusted to accurately allocate beginning and end of month receipts to the right month.

Controller’s data is not used for tracking because it can take a few days for $$ to reach the treasury.

Oh it’s no problem. I answer these questions a lot.

Finance Bulletin typically comes out around the 20th of each month. It is the authoritative monthly General Fund revenue tracker, using “agency cash” as the counting method. A tentative schedule is here: www.buycaliforniabonds.com/state-of-cal...

For General Fund revenue information, Finance and some key people like me benefit from hard work by dedicated civil service staff at the state tax agencies, with whom we have years of relationships. They are the ones who keep the money flowing to the treasury and give us good information.
