That was always the plan. They almost passed ACA repeal in his first term and would've succeeded if McCain didn't give it that famous thumbs down.

This administration doesn't care what the constitution says, and the system of checks and balances doesn't seem very effective against them. Contextualize their threats accordingly.

Their plan seems to be to enact direct voter suppression laws, and they're sure acting like they don't believe there will be future consequences to their actions. Look for Bannon's speech the other night where he says outright that they'll be in jail if they don't seize institutions permanently now.

I don't think he's done

This infographic visualizes it nicely. Interesting to see that more Jazz voters went to Frey than Fateh. vote.minneapolismn.gov/results-data...

Also, it sounds like her campaign worked their asses off to earn it. 40K doors hit is an impressive stat.

Godspeed, but while you're there could'ya politely tell x.com/VoteMpls to get an account here so residents don't need to dip a toe in that cesspool to see their live RCV tabulation updates?

Her acceptance speech is wonderful. Wasn't tracking that race but can see why people voted for her.

St. Paul is piloting new open source software that will deliver the RCV result tonight. Minneapolis just needs to wait for elections staff to start their workday and fire up the spreadsheets tomorrow.

I hate to break it to you, but the odds of making up a 10 point gap out of the 25% combined are tough. Not impossible, but the splits never go as cleanly as people think they will, and more ballots drop off for lack of another ranked candidate than people expect.

Minneapolis Elections used to live-tweet the process, which will not start before they get their workday started and in gear tomorrow. Likely will have a winner called by lunchtime. And I don't see them on this website so might need to take a rare trip back to the bad place to follow. x.com/VoteMpls

I don't think they did, but it was hard to tell with all the independent groups pushing that message and the candidates participating in their multi-candidate events.
November 5, 2025 at 4:15 AM
Very tough. I'd estimate Frey has at least 80/20 odds of this breaking this way.
November 5, 2025 at 4:13 AM
election losses suck, but after they happen we still have roles speaking truth to power, and you're one of the best this city has at that. I hope when the sting fades you make a plan, 'cause the public needs sharp eyes sussing out the many favors ES must owe people for the funding they delivered.
November 5, 2025 at 4:09 AM
That's accurate. Same reason why four years ago Sheila Nezhad was eliminated and Kate Knuth advanced despite the former having a 21.2% to 18.4% lead among first choice votes.
November 5, 2025 at 4:01 AM
It's a stretch to make up a ten point gap out of the rest of the field's combined 25%. Some of them will go to Frey, and in past years a surprising portion of those ballots spoil.
November 5, 2025 at 3:58 AM
yuuuuuup. said it before, this is a town that votes 85% DFL, but 25% of them would swing GOP if it weren't such a one party town.

Congrats on winning your election
