Saw them in Chicago with That Petrol Emotion back in 1989. A local band that played the Metro quite a bit back then, sometimes on consecutive weekends, The Smashing Pumpkins, opened the show.

Enjoy it. Not only will he start beating you, but he’s gonna move out and you’ll see him about 8% of the time that you see him now. But having an adult son is just as cool in a lot of different ways. I wish you the best.

Forty years ago today I watched Live Aid on MTV with friends. During the commercial breaks we would go out on the front stoop and listen to the sound coming from JFK Stadium. We weren’t allowed to go to the show. And that’s kinda why I’ve literally seen thousands of shows. Cuz I’m old enough now.

I’ve been reflecting on the same situation quite a bit in the last couple months. I don’t feel like I’m old enough to be in this place, but I guess I am.
