Its hard to say. But the Trump regime constantly makes moves that lead you to think that they are planning an autocratic takeover. If they aren't planning it, they've sure fooled a lot of scholars of autocracy and dictatorship, who mostly say this is happening.

One thought is that Trump just doesn't care because he won't be on the ballot in 2028 and he doesn't care about anything but himself.

Any normal political party just wouldn't let this happen because they would lose so many votes they will lose elections for sure. Why does the Trump regime not care about losing elections?
