I'm running the Chicago Marathon this year on the Respiratory Health Association's Lung Power Team. I support the RHA in memory of my grandma (pictured below circa 1982 with my mom and me) who lost her battle with lung cancer in 1991.

Today, halfway through my 48th year on this planet, most of which have been spent in or near two of the three largest cities in the country, I was finally and unceremoniously smacked in the face by a pigeon in flight. Not sure what that portends, but it can't be good.
