For years I’ve been wondering if I misremembered a game from my youth, since repeated searches revealed nothing. So I gave a description to the Plagiarism Machine and what do you know: it was Enchanted Sceptres.

I see we’ve now reached the LinkedIn ‘thought leadership’ stage of Coldplay-gate (or whatever). They can try to wring the fun out of it by telling us ‘three things it taught me about B2B sales and circling back to crisis management’, but they won’t succeed.

Canberra put on some lovely misty (and frosty) conditions for the pup’s morning mountain walk.

For a long time I’ve been a fan of what @janeng.com, @rodkin.online, and so many other clever people built with Firewatch. Clearly I’m not alone, so I wrote about why a nearly decade-old game still sticks in people’s heads.

Guardian Australia is really onto something with this podcast. If there’s one thing Australian political discourse has been lacking, it’s the opinions of old white blokes.

I’ve been hovering over the ‘unsubscribe’ link on Nate Silver’s emails for a while, mostly because I delete about 9 in 10 unread. But his colour blindness when it comes to a site run by (and increasingly for) white supremacists was the last straw. Support someone who supports, literal Nazis? Nah.

I always think back to this piece. That it hasn't happened yet leads me to conclude that the billionaires seized the means of production of pitchforks.

Hilarious Thanksgiving recipes from kindergarteners. The stuffing recipe calls for “a tablespoon of turkey” and “200 meters of honey” while the turkey involves cinnamon and teriyaki sauce. [kottke.org]
Thanksgiving Recipes by Kindergarteners
Ok, hold up. This is the only stuffing recipe you need for Thanksgiving: Just a tablespoon of turkey per 200 meters of honey? Lolz. This is from a Thanksgiving cookbook made by a kindergarten class — the turkey recipe

With the rush of legislation getting passed in parliament, there’s endless speculation about election timing. My thoughts on why it’s all nonsense. theurbanerepublic.com/2024/11/25/e...
Election timing speculation (aka Political Onanism Season) - The Urbane Republic
It’s that time of the electoral cycle, when a pundit’s fancy turns to thoughts of election timing. Yes, if Christmas is the silly season, the fag end of a parliament is circle-jerk season for the poli...
