Life long Palace fan disilusioned with top level football. These days as likely to be found at Hayes Lane watching BromleyFC. Ocassionally comments on both clubs as well as retrogaming and cycling as transport
Really enjoyed this one, even though I always found it a bit odd that it plays Rule Britannia, when the name of the game is a German military honour!. I got this with Spy Hunter, Tapper, UpnDown and Aztec Challenge on the "Arcade hall of fame" compilation. That was £10 very well spent!.

Really bad call imho. He needed to go today. I could actually see this decision dragging us into the relegation battle

Not a great week it's true. But we'll always be FA cup winners. That's something I dreamed of for close to 50 years, and never thought I'd see us achieve. From here, what will be will be . . . .and it almost doesn't matter either way

Yep, agreed. Even as a Palace fan I can't be too upset. Macclesfield fully deserved the win, and today that shows that the magic of the cup is alive and well. It's also probably the most Palace thing ever for us to have a result like this a matter of Months after winning the cup for the only time.

Thrust (and I am enjoying these far too much 😀)

Zaxxon ?

I had all three of these as a kid. That was £5.97 very well spent!

I love the waterlink way. I sometime ride from South Norwood to Greenwich using it and it's one of my favourite London journeys. I'd love to see more routes like this using Green space in the local area

Probably the least bad of a set of rubbish options to be fair

I love this one as well. It (along with Interceptor's Scramble 64,which I bought at the same time and didn't like much!) was the very first game I got for my C64. It's also the first C64 game I completed. This is one of those fun, simple games that hodls up well for what it is even now

Strasbourg away is the one I really want to go to. Feels like a "proper" European level away game so I'd love to get to that (with hopefully more in the knockout stages).I doubt I'll be high enough in the points rankings to get a ticket though, even as a close to 30 yr ST holder

I get the frustration, but I don't think anything SP could do prior to March 1st would have have changed things.Maybe asking Textor to put shares in a BT would have shown an attempt to comply, but we know JT would have refeused(regardless of what he says now),so even that would have changed nothing

I definitely prefer living in a big city. There is an ability to be anonymous in a way that you can't be in a place where evererybody knows everybody else. And on a practical level, a big city generally has more interesting things to do

Absolutely fantastic game, but the tape multi load system took a lot of the fun out of it for those of us without a disk drive. It sometimes felt like I spent more time loading events than playing them !

I got this soon after getting my C64 (upgrading from an Atari 2600). I had a few games before getting international soccer, but this was the one the showed me how much better the C64 was than the 2600. It's also the first footy game I played that looked & felt like football. Mindblowing at the time

I loved this and the sequel. In fact, Kickstart 2 was definitely my favourite budget game of them all. I was too young / impatient to get into some of the more complex games, so Kikstart 2 was probably in my top 20 or so C64 games at any price point
June 15, 2025 at 9:27 PM
This was the first isssue of Zzap I bought. Absolutely loved it. Kickstart was probably my favourite of the games reviewed at the time. Dropzone was brilliant but just two hard for 11 year old me to really get into it. . . . . .I actually appreciate that one far more now

Didn't have any of these, but had loads of Mastertronic titles by this point.I think early 85 is about the point Mastertronic stopped turning out streams of garbage and started (sometimes at least)making some really good value budget titles.I always think of Chiller as the turning point on that score

To be fair, the whole 1982 season was incredibly dramatic (and more importantly, tragic). I've often thought it would be a great basis for a film, except if you actually made it people would say it was too far fetched to be believable

You're right about companies killing their full price games market with re-releases.I was lucky enough to get a C64 at Christmas '83, and initially bought a fair few full price games. But by 1986 ish,a combination of comilations and budget re-releases meant I rarely bought full price games anymore

Thanks for the classy response from a Palacefan who was there today.49 times out 50 you win with those stats,But today was our day.My 71 year old Dad was close to tears at end from the joy of something he never thought he'd see.And yes,I'll be in the Holmesdale as it rocks for Euro games next season
May 17, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Well deserved. love reading your reflectsions on the C64, even (and perhaps especially 😀) when I don't entirely agree with the conclusions. And you pausing your lists on twitter was the catalyst for me closing my account there and coming over here instead, which is something I'd meant to do for ages

Much as I'd love to win the cup and finally win a major trophy,it wouldn't be our greatest day imho. For me,nothing we ever do will top the 1990 semi given the 9-0 earlier that seasoin. And with how the cup has been devalued, reaching a final then was probably a bigger thing than winning it now.
