I believe it's time for the universe to make me independently wealthy so I can spend my time attending writing workshops, visiting illustration meccas, making book dummies and painting (all with good cocktails) #kidlitchat

That would pair nicely with a visit to the Society of Illustrators in NY. That's a bucket list visit of mine. #kidlitchat

Can you imagine? You'd be covered with invisible fur all over your clothes. That's impossible to get off with a lint roller. #kidlitchat

Is this a derivation on the woman's choice to be alone in the woods with a man or a bear, now a ghost bear? #kidlitchat

Closest I've been is the Land that Time forgot of Chelmsford, MA for Kodak imagesetter training years ago.

Previously, the workshops were cost-prohibitive while I was actively querying. Now that I've stepped back, left my agent, and started a new job that allows me the after-work time to write and develop, I'll have the funds to actually attend something. A writing retreat sounds glorious. #kidlitchat

I think that really lies in the realm of the agent/development editor. We just need to keep making the unique things that we like, and someone else gets to decide if it's marketable based on current trends in the industry. It actually takes quite a load off of us as creators. #kidlitchat

What I find interesting is that, since books come out years after they are acquired, then most likely those authors weren't chasing trends...they just happened to be on trend. How, then, does a trend form? Like, it must all happens behind the scenes before we start to see it on shelves. #kidlitchat

I usually find that trends have changed right after I make something that incorporates the previous trend. #kidlitchat
However, As long as I'm writing something that I feel good about, I can ignore the trends, and wait for the specific instance to come back around. Play the long game.
