My dad brought up these in-some-distant-way-related-to-us people all the time because he was a doctor and loved telling everyone about the disease the Blue Fugates had.

This is a fantastic piece!

Dang.

Apparently, he kept pushing for there to be more and more consequences for Marty, and the incredible non-sequitor at the end of the movie was entirely his doing. So he was very involved.

This was my reaction also. Hard to rate something like it. Am I glad I saw it? I don't know. It's really well made. I'm also kind of sad that O'Leary played himself and was actually really good at acting.

My daughter goes absolutely nuts for these, and I love them, too. They are so good.

Ok, I can understand that take. It had enough parts that were absolutely not attempting to be comedic at all that if it was attempting to be a black comedy, you'd have to say it missed.
January 1, 2026 at 4:31 AM
Hmm, it didn't feel like a comedy to me, though there were quite a few moments of absurdity. What's your take on it?

Sean Penn, and the last 45 minutes, especially the car chase sequence. On the big screen it was incredible.

Some of these would probably be lower if I didn't see them in the theater (e.g. Avatar), but overall, the highs outweighed the lows, and there were some that were wonderful surprises (like I had read nothing about Sinners going into it).

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

I let one of our 15-pound dachshunds out into the (fenced, thankfully) backyard and he terrorized them so much they all ran. I was kind of embarrassed and proud at the same time.

The only lyrics I have ever heard that used the word "palanquin."

I probably need another month to really polish it, but it brings me great joy to play this piece, and there is almost nothing Justin loves more than to involve everyone around him in vicariously experiencing joy, especially through music, so here it is.

I'm now at the point where I can reliably play all its parts from memory without error, though not in the same playthrough. 😅

But today is my best friend Justin's 50th birthday so I spent all evening trying to record a decent take as a birthday gift to him, and I finally got one that turned out ok.

I sort of panicked, but I have always loved Debussy and have never played possibly his most famous solo piano piece, Claire de Lune. So I blurted that out and she said, "well that's possibly the most beautiful piece ever written," so that's what I've been working on for the last couple of months.
