Maybe they should market it as Bagged Wine? 🧐

On New Years Eve 2015-16, some friends and family created a time capsule. Ten years later, it’s time to dig it up and … we can’t find it.
Have you seen the movie Holes? Feels like that.

Garlic planted today. Cover crop nicely established. Garden pretty much tucked in for the year.

Late October, and we’re still eating almost entirely out of the garden when it comes to fruit and vegetables.

Thank you, Mike Johnson, for convincing US progressives to finally reclaim the American flag.

A community that presses cider together fights authoritarianism together. (I’m only sorta joking. Civil society, networks of mutual aid, and grassroots cooperation are antidotes to fascism)

I'm indebted to @wudan.bsky.social for her top notch fact checking for my forthcoming book and saving me from my own unforced errors. She is also the book's first reviewer! "Beautiful and heart-stopping ... writing"
Thank you for the kind words and the amazing fact checking

Sometimes progress moves fast. Just 15 years ago, as the editor of @earthislandjournal.bsky.social, I published a special issue all about the fight against "King Coal." Today, coal has been knocked from its throne. In a recent US govt mining auction, coal sold for only 1/10 of a penny per ton

Saw this yesterday on some errands. We need more roadside resistance messages like this.

Just finished the second volume of Rick Atkinson’s Tolstoyan saga of the Revolutionary War and am distraught to see that five years passed btwn vol 1 and vol 2. I can’t wait this long to see how the war ends!

This section of the Chilliwack Valley in the North Cascades burned three years ago. That carpet of green? It’s a lawn of baby conifer trees.
Fire is renewal.

As I say this time every year: Fall is the best season to visit the North Cascades. Great weather, no bugs and you can eat your weight in wild blueberries

Will you look at that? The last feature story I edited for Sierra just won a @coveringclimatenow.org award in the fossil fuels category. Congrats to @delaneynolan.bsky.social + @geoffmcghee.bsky.social + @jsdphoto.bsky.social for uncovering the past, present and future of #LNG in the Gulf of Mexico
