What If We Made Advertising Illegal?
What if we banned all advertising? Not regulate it—abolish it. This proposal would transform manipulation machines, and maybe save democracy itself. A thought experiment worth considering.

Brazil is home to Sistema Unimed, one of the largest cooperative networks in the world. Its 339 co-ops are owned by 100k+ doctors and physicians to provide health services and insurance to 20 million people. Unimed has proven itself to be a viable alternative to profit-based healthcare.

#cooperatives are the more humane and egalitarian way of doing business that puts “people over capital”. Here is one of the best examples with €10.6bn in annual revenues and 70,000 employees.
Mondragon Corporation, a business group that includes over 80 cooperatives, shows that this alternative model is viable on a large scale. Many of its workers are also owners, have a vote in the company, and share in the profits. The cooperatives are highly resilient and provide stable employment.
