I believe you reflected to her an understanding of the moment that would bring comfort by letting her know that you're with her.

She's not alone.

I know that feeling.

I had a little chihuahua who would try to take control of my face with her two paws to lick the minty taste of toothpaste from my whiskers after I'd come to bed, making me laugh and say, "Chanelle!"

I'd feel her next to me all the time after she passed.

That struck me loudly in the unspoken-ness of it.

There is a zen tradition of a last poem, and hers is every bit in step with that tradition.

It's difficult to put to words how much I admire and respect and feel for that.

I'm sorry for your loss, Steve. The love of our little furry family members is each unique, as are the memories they leave us with their loss.

Everything w/Trump is "pretext for".

Tariffs are pretext for an extortion racket. Fentanyl is a bogus emergency pretext for stiffing Canada and avoiding Congressional oversite.

"Flag day" is the preposterous pretext for a military parade on his birthday.

So yeah... he'll do it one way or another.

Trump finds out the local law enforcement aren't coming to the aid of ICE agents who were being set upon by protesters due to sanctuary city rules.

Federal buildings vandalized, masked protesters standing on burning cars waiving Mexican flags...

Can we really be surprised Trump sends in troops?

It's challenging to first find the facts, whatever they are, THEN form opinions.

I am fine. Concerned of course.

I think Helen wondered on another thread under this, "What do we do about it?"

And I think that perhaps with enough suffering and loss, we will remember that integrity and fidelity to truth must be the heart of any free society.

We've lost both, collectively.
