1989 Paul Jaboulet Hermitage 'La Chapelle'. Not showing a bit of must or caramel. Still Ruby in color - even at the edges - and firm on the palate. Flavors of tart Greek cherry, tar, smoke, plums and mellowed oak on the finish. This would go a few more years, but so rare and special at this moment!

1998 Gangloff Condrieu. Lovely and perfect. Golden with age, still vibrant with immediate spice flavors, flowers, and strong acidity. Weighty and mouth coating with almondine finish. Such a privilege to experience perfect agricultural and oenophilic synthesis some 30 years down the road.
