I agree, though kerbs in the UK are far lower than North America.

Whilst a solid barrier may be best for cyclists, it may not always be practicable. OP stated these posts do nothing for cyclists safety, which is untrue. Studies here and in the US show such lanes cut collisions in half.

I disagree. By the same logic, kerbs don't protect pedestrians since cars can mount pavements. On a hierarchy of controls, flexible posts are better than paint-only lanes, and far better than no lanes. They create visual barriers, deter encroachment. Impenetrable barriers are not always practicable.

GB News would be the most impacted... It would be such a shame...

Let's do it.

Zero recommendations is odd, though! I'm curious to know how many of the EPC shortfalls have been addressed since your article. It seems like a flawed system.

I have a 1970s built home and in my quest to make it greener have largely ignored the EPC accordingly.

Interesting post and 2019 article. Is there a fourth factor limiting their recommendation: the cost of readying a home for a heat pump?

If a property needs tens of thousands of pounds of upgrades before a heat pump, but could save energy by a relatively easy boiler upgrade, that's more achievable?

In the UK & EU the accuracy of an odometer must be between +10 and -0%. In the US it's not prescriptive but still fraudulent to be inaccurate.

I'll wait to see the outcome of the ruling. Though, I'd be surprised if it's the case. European fines will be astronomical if so.

The diver tweet was vile. Against the Emissionsgate backdrop, I was far angrier to see new ICE SUVs on the road in 2018.

For me that was the first straw, not the final. Everyone will have a different final straw (Twitter>X, COVID, Trump...). I think the one no-one can defend is the salute.

It's hard to put a date on. Is the point of no return the salute in Jan? Until then, Musk had supported Obama, Clinton and Biden. He clearly started going crazy earlier, but not as spectacularly. Climate conscious libs are Tesla's main customers, and sales have plummeted this year accordingly!

I love the styling. When deciding which car to get, this was right near the top of my shortlist. It was just over-priced compared to better equipped alternatives.

A vast majority of countries have not signed this charter, and that includes a majority of G20 member states. I'm not sure what the implications are for and against signing. I would hope this is something that an organisation such Full Fact might be able to clarify, and would appreciate it.

Lacks context that registrations are not sales. UK Teslas are made in China, lead time much longer than mainland Europe (made in Berlin). Sale drops since the election take longer to show. Also, EV growth has exploded in the UK, so this is a reduction despite increased demand.

An interesting read. Liberal England did not die one hundred years ago, mainstream politics became more liberal. It's not dead now, either.

We are now split between populist vs establishment, rather than left vs right. This puts liberal views against populist, but doesn't mean they are dead.

Great news, I hope the trend continues

What do we do about the huge number of older properties that require many thousands to be spent to be ready for heat pumps?

I am sadly in the category of wanting to take advantage of BUS but unable to afford the related works.

An excellent read, I thoroughly enjoy the explainer emails.
