These small orange mushrooms have been popping up in my back yard. Friends on Facebook have suggested they are Candy Caps, which have a special maple syrup smell. When it stops raining I'll pluck a few and smell them. They are used as seasoning, such as in our locally made Candy Cap ice cream.

After a recent rainstorm, the showers let up enough for me to take my usual evening walk and I captured this sunset out on the Mendocino Headlands.

It rained a lot last night and into this morning on the Mendocino coast. One result of the rain is that it brings up mushrooms, such as this classic Amanita Muscaria in my yard. Often seen in fairytale illustrations. They are poisonous and psychoactive, so best left alone.

After a lot of rain and wind on the Mendocino coast recently, plus two power outages, this evening we had this great sunset.

Okay, here I am on bluesky social, having never much used twitter/X. And since the election, it's time to start resisting again, here on the Mendocino Coast and everywhere.
