I'm the author of Wiseguys, Rabbis, and the FBI, a true, 1980s tale of mobsters and mayhem. I write about true crime, music, the Mafia, and more.
That's really nice. You're not afraid to be understated. Very moody. Excellent.

I saw this and thought, outraged, "What? There's no where in Harlem that looks like that." Then I realized it was actually Haarlem... in the Netherlands. And I've even been there! 😂 Outrage comes so easily!

Just gave $600 to Kristof Impact. We have so much, as Americans, there's no excuse for the cruelty of Trump and Musk. The fact that I am contributing towards undoing what those two have done, as Nick says, is extra satisfaction. Thank you for reminding us of this opportunity to contribute, Lawrence.

It's weird when you're from New York. That happens constantly. For a while, every time I turned on the news, and someone was murdered in midtown, it was on my block, I never knew.

Luckily for me, I'm just seeing that trope for the first time. There's still some enjoyment left in it.

That barrette in her hair!

Can I assume that is meant to be super dry humor? Please say yes. 😂

You are conflating things that are totally separate programs. Rent-stabilized was NOT a program related to income. It was a way to keep New York rents under control, period. Anyone could and did live in a rent stabilized apartments. Most people rented, and most rents were stabilized.

This is lacking context. Rent-stabilized in the '80s was more common than today, and it was not designated for a particular income level. If anything it was a middle class phenomena. That is not true now; there are still rent stabilized places, but new ones are subject to income restrictions, etc.

Very nice. Dramatic. Makes you want to know more. Not sure what the white is. But the red against the night is powerful. Cool!
