A federal court ordered MS to create 3 new legislative districts that gave Black voters an opportunity to elect candidates of their choice. Black voters didn’t pass on that opportunity!

A 3 judge panel upheld our - @aclu-ms.bsky.social - objection to the #msleg’s attempt to comply with its previous order to draw senate districts in DeSoto County in line with the VRA. The state senate tried to skirt the law and continue to dilute Black voting strength.

The State of Mississippi spends very little on public. Like a third of what Alabama spends per resident. Almost all of the state dollars are matching dollars required for federal funding. If these abrupt cdc grant terminations are real, the legislature is going to have step up or it all crumbles.

So many Democratic house members voting to shift the state’s tax burden on to low-income Mississippians. I hate that place. #msleg

Maybe not enough but he got way more help than any Black candidate has received running in that same district.
