I love the style and was thinking about trying to learn

It makes building your character very fun on repeat playthroughs, as you can go for something that gets fairly strong quickly to take on the endgame as early as possible or something that makes the most of every resource and drop of xp you can gather, and excels in the later stages of the game

I like the time limits of fallout 1. They aren't so strict that they limit gameplay too much. You have plenty of freedom and time to explore, but they add to the mechanics of the game and depth of the world. It's a trade off. The longer you take the more harder encounters there are

At one point I wanted to make an isometric game on a hex grid but just couldn't figure it out. What were your biggest problems setting up the map, detecting hexes with the cursor, and keeping track of where everything was turn by turn? How did you tackle them?
