It was so bittersweet to come to an end. From the Project Luminous tease all through to the finale. The High Republic gave so much comfort during very difficult times.

And the community that came up around it was incredible.

For Light and Life. We are all The Republic!

Enjoy!

We live in incredibly trying times, so our escapes from reality are even more precious to us.

I "come in hot" all too often, as well. Lol

It's all good, things get lost on these platforms.

And voice/tone is all but impossible to interpret.

I think we're probably like 95% in agreement on things, actually. And eventhat difference, it's the fun Celebration fan discussion vibe. Which is exactly the conversations I want to be having.

Fair.

I was incredibly "plugged in" at the time. Thirsty for every drop of new Star Wars. I live in the heart of movie marketing: Hollywood is saturated with billboards, bus ads, tie in events, spectacle upon spectacle promo. And I didn't know when it was going to be released until less than a month out.

"these people" = The people who view SW as watching a documentary instead of a story, as SWU posted.

I don't consider fan tribalism anymore. I lived through PT hate as a teen/adult, it's ugly & the only solution is maturity (not age).

My original post is just bitching, not a manifesto. I'm happy to have good faith discussions, but criticizing people venting frustrations isn't substantive either.

My POV (working in film/tv for 15 years) Solo's low cultural impact stems from botched marketing. Disney thought the brand name alone would bring the crowd. It was only 6 months post TLJ. TFA/R1 established the Xmas release. Hence why the fandom is positive/neutral on it, and Gen Aud is apathetic.

Bingo! I absolutely LOVE lore and world building. I have all the dictionaries and essential guides going back to being a kid in the 80/90s. My friends and I basically memorized that stuff for the fun of it.

But it is always in service to the story, not the other way around.

I don't think anyone can make the claim that "the general public" hates Solo. Box office failure is difficult to tie to negative reception.

The critique of Solo as "the greatest hits" of Han's story is legitimate, but trying to put that between fans and the general audience is very inside baseball.

I'm not particularly worried about a generalized complaint being substantive.

I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million more:

These people don't want stories, they want Wookiepedia articles on screen.

But they don't understand that would be awful.

I just finished it! It's so fun! And there was a moment of dread with a revelation connected to The High Republic that hit me perfectly.

Great read.
