Heartstopper (3 Seasons): Netflix. Heartstopper is a phenomenal TV show that brings young romance with chemistry for days. The writing is always honest but always hopeful. What Alice Oseman can accomplish is fantastic writing and engaging writing without falling into teen drama tropes.

Looking HBO Max (2 seasons & a Movie), what Andrew and Michael do with the story is astounding. I wish I could tell a story the way they do. Their writing invokes such honesty; the characters and world-building put you in the center of the story.

Insecure Max/ Netflix (5 Seasons). What Issa Rea did through Insecure is to tell a hilarious story. She was able to tell complex, messy, hilarious stories about Black people. Honest & always funny stories don't sacrifice character for laughs.

Leverage - Prime (5 Seasons). Leverage is a case-of-the-week show that could survive on the cases alone. But what John & Chris do is match the audience's intelligence. By always telling the emotional story. The writing leaves nothing on the table!

Good Trouble - Hulu (5 Seasons). The storytelling on Good trouble is brilliant. What Jonna Johnson does with the story is something that is not simple but always feels right and natural. She can tell an authentic story about 20-somethings.

How I Met Your Mother Prime (9 Seasons) what Cater and Craig did here told a complete story with the ending In mind. This was when I understood that the humor and grief of life go hand and hand. And they did it brilliantly. And I believe they stuck the landing.

Gilmore Girls - Netflix (8 seasons), it's wildly easy to write off as a teen show about coffee, and while coffee is a thing (see poster below), the heart of the show is a single mother raising her daughter after leaving home at 16 to raise her.

The West Wing- HBO Max (8 seasons) is a wonderful show that reminds us of what an ideal democracy could be. It's good people trying to do good things. It's a romantic look at the government. That's what sets it apart; it doesn't make our government corrupt.

The Good Fight streaming on Paramount Plus falls into the category of “I wish I could tell a story like that.” What the Kings did storytelling-wise gave me a great outlet during Trump's Presidency. Funny, Smart, and Polictical.
