Let’s talk baseball. Former pitcher. I sprinted into games.
Osprey flying overhead in Orange County, CA today. Pretty rare find. We mostly see a bunch of Hawks and Owls.

This Cam Ward quote on work ethic is top notch. Most pros are meticulous with their training and have no issues pushing themselves.

“I grew up watching my Dad wake up at 4:30 for a job he didn't like, so if I can't wake up early and work hard at a job I do like, I shouldn't be playing football.”

Found the boogeyman. This fella has been landing on my house every night around 3am and waking up my kids.

But I’m not sure this knowledge will help my daughter sleep.

…Don’t worry honey, that noise is just the big hungry owl outside your window.

16 straight Gold Gloves!

“I’m beginning to see Brooks in my sleep,” said Reds manager Sparky Anderson afterwards. “If I dropped this paper plate, he’d pick it up on one hop and throw me out at first.”
Brooks Robinson (1937-2023), the Standard-Setter at Third Base
Gold Gloves and World Series heroics etched him into the national consciousness, but he was even more widely respected for his character.

Long read here. But wow, what a career Jerry Koosman put together.

“Jerry Koosman retired after 19 games in 1985 with a career record of 222-209, 140 complete games, 33 shutouts, and more than 2,500 strikeouts. His career ERA for 19 seasons was 3.36.”

Hard not to get emotional reading this line.

"All I heard my mom say was that I was very big and very beautiful," he said. "And the only thing that I told her when I calmed down, I told her that she smelled like home."
