The outline practically writes itself! BTW, I don’t post these exercises to teach; rather to help. And I help myself by doing them as well. If you try this one, you’re more than welcome to share the results here. Let’s all encourage each other! Here’s my attempt at #WritetheObituary:

So, this exercise is called Fight Like You Live. There are two steps:
1. Devise a technique based on the character’s backstory or job, then
2. Write a short scene to test it out!
Here’s my attempt:

Write a conversation where one character is trying to say something important, but keeps getting interrupted. The interruptions might be well-meaning, off-topic, or intentionally distracting, but they’re not rude. Here’s my attempt:

Morning, #CRPWizardWasps, welcome to day ELEVEN of #CampRevPit! Our DAY 11 INTERACTIVE: How do you juggle your writing routine with the rest of your busy life? Do you need a distraction free time to write, and if so, do you schedule it or work it in when you can?

Tonight’s is an easy one. Well, it’s an easy two, if you’re so inclined:
What is the one secret your character (MC or otherwise) would kill to protect? And why?
BONUS: What would it take for your character to willingly reveal that secret?
You can write it as a scene or a character bio. Here's mine:

It looks like everyone is on top of their feedback swaps, so this is just a cautious reminder - DM me or the #CampRevpit main account if you need assistance!

Morning, #CRPWizardWasps, welcome to day TEN of #CampRevPit! Our DAY 10 INTERACTIVE: Do you have a favorite quote (or a recent one that really resonates with you) about writing?

This one’s super easy: imagine your character owes someone a special favor, but one they NEVER talk about. Write a brief memory scene where the debt was created (200-400 words). Then write 2-3 sentences about why they STILL refuse to speak about it. As always, I’m doing these with you; here’s mine:

And here's a quick scene incorporating some of the character exercise elements:

BONUS: Write it out as a scene! Here’s my initial exercise (apologies it's a bit long):

I'm working on a Vampire story, so I need some slang that is not derivative of every other Vampire story out there. Here's what I came up with:

Good evening, #CRPWizardWasps! I’ve never been one to romanticize life in the Victorian era, mostly because of all the inequity and racism, but also because deodorant wasn’t invented until 1888. But their slang makes that era feel less like a place in time and more like a story world.

Bonus: don’t overthink who it is! Let yourself be surprised. Here's my attempt:

Note: this isn’t a scene writing exercise so much as a branching story exploration exercise. (Although you can, of course, write the scene out if you decide to use it!) Here’s my attempt:

I saw this and thought it needed to be shared:

Here's my attempt:
What does your protagonist think it is?
-Vampire hunters.
What is it actually?
-Vampires.
How will its arrival change your character’s next decision?
-He'll go from wanting to spare Lucas' life to needing to drink Lucas' blood...

…meaning that the second answer should be wilder than the first, and the third should be wilder than the second by an order of magnitude. So, let’s give it a spin! Take two characters, have one ask a question, then have the other give a response that gets progressively stronger between 1 and 3.

Here's my attempt at writing the 'zipperlips' scene:
April 23, 2025 at 2:53 AM
So, if you’re up for a bit of a curveball, take a look at this picture and write a scene, or a snippet of a scene, exploring how your characters would react if they walked into a room and saw them. The only rule to this exercise is to have fun with it!

When you’re done, post it here with the hash #CRPWizardWasps, then look for your fellow Wizard Wasps’ letters and share some positive feedback!
