Members of MAG's and TAL's tribes will be background characters. I think TAL's last remaining immediate family member will be his mother MOT, reflecting to the decline of Neanderthal tribes. We'll see more of MAG's tribe... PAG is his (undoubtedly disappointed) father.

OK, I have some character designs...assuming I decide to stick with my default drawing style. MAG is a Cro-Magnon Homo Sapiens, and TAL is a Homo Neanderthalensis. MAG uses more words, is better at tools, and his clothes (when worn) will be more sophisticated. But TAL is more fun at parties.🙂

A bit of commentary on the outskirts of the Catholic college campus in my neighborhood. No idea if it's the work of a student or a resident of our progressive enclave... but it warmed my day a little.

There's a new set of "Black Mirror" episodes out. The bad(?) news is that I'm halfway thru the first of them, and I'm not sure I want to finish it. It's *that* on-target, and *that* bleak....

I like Nebula. It's a streaming service set up by a bunch of people who create quality programming – often with an educational angle – on YouTube, as a better home for that material. It's creator-owned, and they get paid by subscription fees instead of a toxic data-mining advertising scheme....

FUN FACT: Charlie Brown is not bald. He has blond hair, which his father (a barber) keeps trimmed so short that it's nearly invisible... except for the little floof on his forehead. Drawing him as "bald" was a shortcut that Charles Schulz used, to make him easy to draw. Unfortunately...

For me, the most difficult comix scenes to script are oral sex scenes. Which isn't hard to understand if you've ever had a partner ask you a question when you obviously have your mouth full. You have to either stop what you're doing or hold your answer for later....

Continuity is the bane of serial storytelling. Some fans give it *way* too much attention, but it can be important to avoid confusion. And for a sprawling, multi-decade series of hundreds of pages, it can be difficult...

Meanwhile, I think I've finished the page before this scene.

This panel turned out better than I had any right to expect. I wrote it in the script without thinking about how to actually draw it... then had to figure that out. It turned out to be all kinds of anatomical foreshortening hell, and I don't pretend it's "correct", but I faked it pretty well.

The last time I looked into doing a Jonny Quest crossover, I couldn't find a good copy of the logo, meaning I'd have to recreate it by hand. 😐 I figured I'd check again, and... you can't do any better than a hires photo of The Actual Original Ink Drawing On Paper. comics.ha.com/itm/animatio...

Interesting color scheme. I guess this would have been too on-the-nose?

Someone mentioned that "Dennis the Menace" is actually two distinct characters – who debuted the same day in the UK and the US – and I thought it would be fun to see these two menaces-to-society grow up a little and meet. #GayComics

This is a “crossover” of sorts. Off and on for years, my friend @jimmierobinson.bsky.social has produced a series of satirical stories about Bomb Queen, a sexy supervillain. I recently got it into my head that it would be fun for JAQ and BQ to meet. So I drew this.

I'm trying again to work on the script for "Vacation", a darkly-ironically-titled comix story about sexual abuse. It's problematic AF and I'm not even sure I'll ever draw it, let alone publish it. But I've been trying to get this thing done for a couple months now....

He wouldn't tell us to trust that God would eventually finishing shitting, wipe his imaginary ass, and do... something. This turd of YOURS was so incredibly offensive. Do you even understand why?
January 30, 2025 at 1:52 AM
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social Do you have any understanding of how offensive this crap is to people who don't share your superstition? We're trying to survive this assault on America, and we don't trust your imaginary sky buddy to sort it all out after we're all dead.

I bitch a lot about Meta's shitty "suggested" crap, so to be fair, here's the crap that Bluesky is "recommending" to me. At least (unlike Meta) they're still letting me decide, but... it's pretty bad. The red topics are things I don't give a fuck about. The yellow ones, I merely don't care about.

This is a technique I developed (for a story I haven't illustrated yet). It puts the actual spoken words in the foreground, so bilingual readers can simply read the dialog as is, but shadows that with English translations for readers who might need help understanding it.
