They are supposed to be: astragalus(purple), green carnation(green), agrimonia(yellowish), arbutus(the tree).

I haven't written the chapters where Mortimer's depression starts to go away thanks to the brand new medicine, but I'm very close to that. I'm curious about how the dynamic's going to change when Mortimer becomes happier and more energetic.

Herbert plays the savior in his own specific selfish manner and satisfies his need to be needed by someone he finally deems worthy, while Mortimer gets a chance to get a better life because he's the only Herbert's friend, which means that Herbert's attention is concentrated on him and him alone.

Herbert's extreme fear of loneliness(and consequent dependence on Mortimer) plus his positive yet agressive attitude combine perfectly with Mortimer's sad passive demeanor and inability to function properly due to his depression and alcoholism(and consequent dependence on Herbert).

I think Herbert and Mortimer turned out to be perfect for each other. Not in a way that is typically considered good, but in a way that is good for *them*.
