In my experience the far right like to film and dox people at these protests. Covering your face is a great way to stop that from happening. This bill puts people at risk.

I'm turning to external comments off from here forwards but will try to link to statements / open letters in the comments when they go up. I've looked & I could have missed it, maybe it's saved in their drafts but UKIE? TIGA? BFI? BAFTA? that new video game council? Which UK body is stepping up to publicly speak about the mass censorship of the cultural form they represent? Would film bodies have let more than 24 hours pass if films featuring sex and adult content were suddenly 'delisted' from cinemas and their major distribution platforms?! As much as organisations love to pop it in their press releases to validate games - making more as an 'industry' than film and music combined is NOT what makes games a cultural medium - if it did, supermarkets would be one too (£200bn > £7bn). But speaking up and lobbying against THIS and protecting creators IS what makes games a cultural medium. Currently there is just radio silence and a total vacuum of leadership and support from orgs on this issue. Email text reading: Thank you for contacting me regarding the case of Ryan Castellucci. You asked me to contact the Supreme Court to grant permission for an appeal of this case (Castellucci v Gender Recognition Panel) to be made. It would not be appropriate for me to contact the Supreme Court in regards to an appeal on this case. However I would like to assure you that I support the rights of trans people, as expressed in my recent signing of this Parliamentary motion, tabled on 12th May 2025, in support for the trans community. The motion celebrates the contribution that the trans community, binary and nonbinary, makes to the UK; recognises that transgender transition liberates trans people to be their true selves; notes that there is no such thing as gender ideology, but that term is used to oppose acceptance of trans people in society; condemns baseless fearmongering in the media that trans people present a risk to others; further notes that the increase in anti-trans hate crime recorded in England and Wales between 2012 and 2023 was 1,426 per cent; supports inclusive language for trans and nonbinary people; and calls on the Government to perform its statutory public sector equality duty to trans people, by eliminating discrimination against them, advancing equality of opportunity for them, and fostering good relations between trans and cis people. Subscribed Sometime between January 25th and February 7th of this year, shortly after Trump took office, YouTube quietly updated its hate speech policy to remove the phrase “gender identity.” YouTube doesn’t allow hate speech toward a number of groups. Content that promotes violence or hatred towards users over their race, nationality, religion, disability, and veteran status is explicitly barred. Hate speech against someone’s “gender identity and expression” was also once barred, but that phrase has since been removed. Under the list of examples of hate speech provided on YouTube’s policy site, the line “[Protected group status] is just a form of mental illness that needs to be cured,” was also removed.
