Yup, haha rural South Dakotan here. . . .still turn down the radio to drive in Sioux Falls. . . . can't navigate Omaha without GPS. . . . Minneapolis terrifies me. Chicago would probably give me a heart attack.

My public school only offered one semester (seriously - not even a full year) of world history - which covered everything from the big bang to present and was taught by they guy they hired to coach all the girl's sports. Needless to say we didn't spend a lot of time on . . . Anything, really.

YES!!!! My mother in law informed me her PRIEST recommends not following the news if it upsets you. Um. Pretty sure Jesus said, "turn the other cheek" NOT "Look the other way and ignore injustice and suffering if it makes you slightly uncomfortable."

I feel like any Catholics who might be offended are not on Bluesky. I think. I don't know. I'm Catholic but so is my husband and we may as well have been raised in two entirely different faiths. But the odds are good that here, at least, we've got a sense of humor.

And I have concerns not just about the economy - but the environmental impacts. Big business has a way of ignoring or working around environmental protections. Our local meat packing plant illegally dumps waste into the Sioux River again and again. Imagine farm chemicals. . . .

If farmers go bankrupt. . . . practically my entire state will end up being giant, corporate farms. It will kill our entire local economy. . . .I definitely think they need to feel some pain to wake up, but. . . .at what cost? Once corporations own the land - there's no going back.

I see them . . .at the bar I work at. Drinking 6 hours a day rather than spending time with their family, hating on "illegal" immigrants. . . And then driving home drunk. Drives me insane.
