Jim Croce played Martin, until as with Glen Campbell. Ovation sponsored him heavily. Ovation's marketing in the 70s was like political lobbying - relentless. Nevertheless, when recording, and ergo not on display, both used Martins and Gibson's.

I played a Dan Armstrong lucite bass for a while in the early 80s. nice enough player, if a bit shit in natural reverb and sonic depth...but a real back-breaker...never again.

The power will go off here soon until 13h00 CET, as Fred moves everything on to the new main board, and then the mains line to the secondary board at the far end of the house in my workshop, as the house is too big (and long) to use one domestic board, especially where workshop machinery is used.

Listening to the Giles Martin AI separated and remixed Beatles Red and Blue albums...my God, this is what AI is good for. The crystal clarity and balance in the mix is just superb, losing none of the 60s ambience or wonder, yet still sound as if they were recorded yesterday. You hear so much more!

I do that here in SW France too...sometimes just around our own land, but I can also do the long walk into the village via the fields and woods, which turns beautifully with the year...

Well, the day has come, I've listened to it several times (got a bit emotional), the new Beatles single, 'Now and Then'. Beautifully judged by Paul and Giles Martin, no Jeff Lynne. Lifting John's voice out of the messy demo tape...how reflective was he in his last days? Miss you, Johnny...

Below: veterans of Bletchley Park, codebreakers who knocked 2 years off WWII, saving millions of lives. Also, Right: British Airborne veterans, of whom my adoptive dad was one.
