Vancouver Island based fibre artist creating knotted macrame sculpture with marine debris and recycled materials.

I’ve been salvaging marine debris (rope from fish farms, chaffing gear, fishing net, crab line) in order to break it down and repurpose it as fibre art.

These coiled and knotted mini mermaid wreaths are how I’ve been experimenting with the possible colourway of the Anthropocene—nary a neutral!

Craft Historians, Librarians, and Feminist Art Historians, are you on here?

I’m starting to piece together a written history of macrame that engages a feminist critical analysis. I’m in search of breadcrumbs at this point. Are there any key texts or thinkers that you would direct me to?

Alright, well, I guess it’s time to begin the act of conversion from meta. Artists, any insights on what’s worked well for you to get set up in this space? Or is it just about diving in and trusting the process?
