I ordered a different Matchalia flavor but I think the cosplay color scheme rewired the barista’s memory to this one instead lolol. It was lovely to see people excited about a character from an older game, plus the reception at that fun Tales panel I had to leave early was great 🥺 Tyvm guys!!!

My philosophy writing it is: soap opera about difficult people in a messy world. The narrative and gameplay design is centered around understanding the fictional world, plot, and cast.

The rest is a result of many things about them and their world. Looking back on it in retrospect makes going to work that day REALLY suck and the things that lead up to it were much bigger and beyond a single person alone.

The MC and his brother are to meet up with a person of contact stationed down the river. The unfortunate timing of when he worked that day set off a series of events that were near their breaking point prior to the start of the story. It's the only event decided by pure chance in the plot.

When he leaves work early, the group with the body makes an attempt on his life. After escaping, that night his dad sends the MC and his brother away before he torches their house and the intruders in it to buy himself time to send a letter and escape.

I'm working on that story for a game but I'm making novellas in the mean time for another reason.
Tldr of chapter 1, the MC works contractually for a funeral home as a performer. He sees the corpse of someone he doesn't recognize but wasn't supposed to see.
