Been outraged @ flurry of Trump’s EOs. But today was my 1st day of in-person class at SDSU-IV. It was amazing as I used to take my history courses in the assigned classroom & the students were engaged. I’m teaching Chicana/o Studies 375 The US/Mexico Border History. . .

No surprise I had Mercedes from Becky G and Oscar Maydón on repeat. The song is fire and Becky G representing SoCal and Oscar Maydon repping Mexicali- the best of the California borderlands.

Going to be insufferable and post my Apple Music (yes-it has better audio quality) wrapped here. I really vibed with Ivan Cornejo’s music later in the year. But Peso Pluma, Bad Bunny, and Feid were on repeat throughout the year. Sleep Token for those who know.

This hits pretty hard. I don’t know how many times I bought repollo (cabbage) instead of lechuga (lettuce) for my mom during an unexpected grocery haul after work or uni.

I took a picture of Rodolfo “Rudy” Cuellar’s “Fiesta de Maíz” because I like visual representations of corn. I enjoy talking about its roots to Oaxaca with my students as it always sparks robust conversations with them.

Royal Chicano Air Force (RCAF). Ricardo Favela passed away in 2007. The exhibit celebrated his legacy by showcasing his art and an altar. Loved ones and staff left snickers, low rider model cars, chiles, hats, and other items.

I got to check out the “Chicanismo & The Art of Resistance: The Legacy of Ricardo Favela and the RCAF” exhibit at the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center this Sunday. The gallery featured the work of the Chicano artist Ricardo Favela and the Rebel Chicano Art Front, which later became the . . .

Rode an Amtrak train for the first time for a work trip. It was comfortable, no TSA, and so much better than flying. Is this what our high-speed rail future holds?

Always a pleasure talking about the Voices of Southern Methodist University oral history project. We tabled for the university’s Human Rights Program’s kickoff event. Talked to faculty and students alike about the initiative’s founding and our plans for the year.
