‘London Belongs to Me’ by Norman Collins - (Brit here). Set between the wars, it’s a masterful story about the inhabitants of a large house and it’s just wonderful. I first read it in my 20’s, I’m now in my 70’s and no other book has ever dislodged its position in my heart.
