Right now, the UK Government is considering cuts to the nature-friendly farming budget – the biggest pot of funding for nature.

Here’s why that would be a disaster for farmers, food security, and wildlife.

We’re relieved to see Housing Support Grant lifted in Welsh Gov’s 25-26 draft budget. But it’s unclear how much of the new NHS funding goes to mental health, and social housing funding falls far short. Services will also feel the strain of NI rises.

We're grateful to @rhunapiorwerth.bsky.social and others for raising this in the Senedd.

We call on Welsh Gov. to lobby UK Gov to extend local government exemptions to cover third sector, or to otherwise guarantee an uplift in the upcoming budget.

Many charities are commissioned through public sector funds. Without exemptions against NI rise, additional cost to charities will come from the public purse.

Supporting charities keeps doors open when people need safety, helps build resilient communities and reduces public spend.

A National Insurance rise risks charities facing insurmountable costs. For us it would mean an extra £250k a year; difficult to afford as we work to continue supporting 13k people facing tough times.

Great day today - personal highlight though (sorry to myself and others!) was @danielhewittitv.bsky.social exploring his work covering housing. One thing in particular stuck with me: journalism has many health, science, political, sports (etc) correspondents. But very few housing correspondents. 🤔
Great day one at the @chcymru.bsky.social Annual Conference, talking about importance of the right conditions in housing, and compassionate leadership. We'll be sharing more from our journey of learning tomorrow.

There's strong link between poverty and higher likelihood of difficulties with physical and mental health. Poverty is one of the major social determinants of mental health - the wider societal factors that impact our wellbeing.

We've written about it in our manifesto: platfform.org/system-chang...
By 2022-23, people in low-to-middle income families are more than five times more likely than people in higher-income families to be out of work due to ill health.

The gap between higher and lower income families has widened since the pandemic.

At the moment, the world can feel very divided, and like it’s easy to see the lines that we may stand either side of.

But if we’re curious about what’s beyond badges we wear and the labels we give, we may find more to connect with.

Look for the helpers.
