Archivist at Co-op Archive based in Manchester. Volunteer for Manchester Digital Music Archive. Bike Pootler. Likes moles.
A weekend up North with my sister looking after parents in the Autumn of their lives.
We are so lucky to be able to stay here but as caring demands increase, the lack of public transport in rural areas is really highlighted.

A beer has been brewed specifically by Marble Brewery and the food and cake is amazing! A great team effort and a project which I learnt lots from.

There are links to MDMArchive as co-founder CP Lee worked here and Mole Express was based here too.

Thank you On the Eighth Day Co-operative for inviting me to your 55th birthday. A fabulous event at the cafe and a brilliant exhibition too.

Anna and Nico came to visit the Co-op Archive to look through the collection to find exhibition material from the Worker’s Co-ops collections

A great time at this year’s #DCDC2025 conference at Durham this year. So many take homes and brilliant conversations to re-invigorate, re-connect, make new connections and learn from.
Also a mooch round a place I hadn’t visited before and a chance to see some brilliant buildings and exhibits.

And the kid did not water the plants for my messy garden of delights.

In Denton for the Whit Friday brass band competition taking place across Tameside, watching a Co-op Band.

The other photo is of the CWS brass band in 1972 on their way to a festival in Canada sporting newly-designed heraldic pocket badges by CWS Menswear especially for the trip.

A reader came across this smart looking man in the 1928 Women’s outlook which reminded me to ask @katrinanavickas.bsky.social if you have got tickets for the upcoming Sparks tour.
I’m Manchester bound!

Spent a few hours @ljmu-sca.bsky.social Really great to visit again and meet the team.
Saw William Mackenzie’s pyramid tomb too. Legend has it, a gambler, he is under there sat at a table with a set of cards.

George House Trust held a launch event to celebrate 40 years of HIV activism with people sharing inspiring personal stories. There were archives prepared by volunteers which will be moved to Central Library for all to access. An exhibition will be there in April and more events to come. ght.org.uk

Go to Liverpool. Go and see the Holly Johnson exhibition at the Liverpool Museum. Remind yourself of what was happening in the 80s socially, politically and culturally.

Only a day away with the kid this year as big exams loom and they weren’t keen on being away from home. A trip to our favourite Liverpool. A first visit to the Walker Gallery and the fantastic Holly Johnson exhibition. Eric’s, Big in Japan, clothes, protests, HIV & AIDS & songs and memories.

My mum had one of these side sticks on her bike in the eighties to avoid close passes but I don’t see them anymore. Are they deemed too dangerous, fear of them going into the back wheel?

This year is the centenary of the Woodcraft Folk and next year marks the anniversary of the general strike in the uk and this pamphlet I came across in the archives brings them together nicely.

I had a mile of this to reach my destination from the bus stop. Other more sensible people had cancelled their visit to the archive. Warm welcome when I got there.
