For sure I miss friends I made, but I do keep in touch with many through social media and video calls. I haven't completely "retired". But, I no longer teach or consult, or travel to conferences. And that feels right to me.

"Work to live" vs "Live to work". I really don't miss working full time anymore. I am enjoying having time doing my projects without having to fit them into my schedule. But retirement without a plan isn't a good thing.

I have a paper and pen by my side all the time too. There is something about being able to sketch out a problem that I need.

I'm sad that you don't think a book on testing might help them 🤣 That said in jest, but in truth, they really do need to understand - @lisacrispin.bsky.social and I wrote Agile Testing Condensed and later Holistic Testing to help all roles to understand how testing fits in.

You mean it should be automatic? Yes, I agree and I know many programmers who develop their code that way. Unfortunately, it is not all.
