This was only the second time that the ECINEQ conference took place in the United States. Our Stone Center had the honor of hosting the first-ever one in the US. That was at the CUNY Graduate Center, in New York City, July 17-19, 2017. @stone-lis.bsky.social @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social @cuny.edu

I am in Washington DC, my former home city, for #ECINEQ Meeting. I'm here, first time in 2025, taking it all in. Directly in front of my hotel, on New Hampshire Ave, is a strikingly dignified oak tree. It is named #Democracy Tree and it bears this plaque. The work goes on, the cause endures. #DCVote

LIS Workshop, Day 4. Philippe Van Kerm gave a brilliant presentation of a "toolbox" for income distribution analysis, covering decomposition, regression, & more. He interspersed equations with original illustrations. IMHO, this one's a keeper. #inequality

2025 @lisdata.bsky.social Summer Lecture. PSE Prof Marc Fleurbaey presented a rather mind-bending lecture: "Social Contagion, Inequality, and Mobility." "Contagion models are useful to describe the impact of interactions on how individuals thrive and how this shapes society." @pse.bsky.social

It's a wrap! The 2025 meeting of LIS' governing body, where representatives from many countries assess past work, review current projects, and plan LIS' future. These meetings demonstrate the extraordinary power and potential of international cooperation. #42years @lisdata.bsky.social

June 14, 2025. Much unfolded in the US yesterday. Tanks rolled. Protesters rallied. And Vivian Gornick - born a good number of Flag Days ago - turned 90. Friends (some from #CCNY back in the day), comrades, and family gathered in NYC to celebrate Vivian and to usher her into the coming decade. 🥂🎈🍎

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night slows down NYC! NOTHING could dampen this enormous peaceful show of resilience.
