My nice neighbours brought round some of their homegrown tomatoes yesterday. I do like homegrown tomatoes.

No cheating. Post your Lock Screen. (Could this be unwittingly giving info to bad people?)

More work on this painting this afternoon but I now think I have painted it so badly that I need to give up.
Perhaps I need not to look at it for a while.

I had done a bit more last week to my still life painting of the 1960s Colombian costume doll from the coffee growing area & the Japanese coffee cup & saucer.
Still a lot to do.

I was feeling very down on Sunday due to state of world, parlous state of my finances, arthritis, believing I’m a failure… so had to start a new painting (surrounded by unfinished paintings).

I got a couple of hours of painting done this week. It doesn’t look dramatically different but a lot of paint was added, mainly to make the table more scarlet to the left and to darken the red of the wall on the right, and to add more yellow to the larger crocosmia bloom.

The Northern Lights are amazing! First time I’ve knowingly seen them. They’re not this vivid to the naked eye but this is just what my phone’s camera saw, no additional tweaks, and the green and red were visible to the eye.

The fifth of my first six screen prints - ‘Ballet rehearsal, Byker Community Centre.’
I was privileged to spend 2 or 3 mornings sketching & photographing the Ballet Lorent rehearsing. It was fascinating & poignant (I have rheumatoid & osteo-arthritis), & I admire their work with local communities.

Another of my first 6 screen prints. This one shows the Earl Grey statue on top of the Monument in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, against a background of the opening paragraphs of the Great Reform Act.

Another of my first screen prints: ‘Spanish City’ funfair in fog, Whitley Bay. This is not the same funfair mentioned in Dire Straits’ ‘Tunnel of Love’ but a temporary one on the grass near where the original used to be.

This is 1 of my first 6 screen prints that I did for a project at Newcastle City Library in 2017. This one involved laser-cutting the outline of the land & windmill so I could do a hand-painted negative for the sky.

This was my very first screen print, one of a series of six about Tyneside and Northumberland, inspired by an 1898 book about Japan including hand-coloured photographs.

I decided to start the painting stage of this picture of quince blossom with the strongest colours.

Looking at it the next morning, I could see I needed to re-draw quite a bit.
