I just finished this glass and slate mosaic. It is 12" x 16" and is wired to hang on the wall. I am probably going to title it "Vorona," which is the Ukranian word for "crow." JaneRussellMosaics.com

I finished and framed this mosaic today. I used hand-cut glass, glass that I fused, glass frit, slate, tiny glass microspheres, glass stringers, and tinted mortar. This piece was inspired by a photo that I took of lichen growing on a neighbor's fence. 12" x 12". JaneRussellMosaics.com

I’ve been working on a mosaic based on a photo I took of some lichen on a fence but am struggling with the colors and materials. I’m not confident that the scale I’m using to weigh iron oxide powder is accurate. If any one can recommend a reliable scale for very small amounts I’d appreciate it.

I think I’m done with this new piece except for a frame. Tentative title is “California Rain.”

This abstract piece was based on a doodle. It's one of my favorites. It's about 2' across diagonally, is slightly 3D, and is wired to hang. I created the substrate out of mesh and mortar, and then mosaiced it with hand cut stained glass. I named it "Chimera." JaneRussellMosaics.com

Two photos of a mosaic that was made using fiberglass mesh and mortar which was folded into this shape. After the mortar cured solid, I added the hand-cut glass and stone bits, as well as a few tiny fused glass cabochons. It was wired to hang on the wall. JaneRussellMosaics.com

"Relief" is the title of this mosaic that I made a few months ago. It's made out of marble, glass, ceramic, fused glass, and mortar. The title refers to both the texture of the piece, as well as the relief a woman may feel when she discovers a red stain on her clothing.
