“The Hegerberg pen wasn't a pen, Lydia. Offside all day long.”

“Charlotte, how many times? A player can’t be offside until she’s active but she can still be fouled.”

On my Substack today, I'm joined by a good friend to natter on about all things UEFA Women’s Euros.

By happenstance I’m at Wembley for work today. Can’t believe we’ll be back here in ten days and this place will be roaring

In my latest Substack I’m thinking about Sussex. I go to Brighton for the WSL match, ponder pond puddings, and get a bit awestruck at some art.

In my Substack I write about my adventures in football, great books, and random stuff that's caught my interest.

This week: the Vertu Trophy, the Utilita Girls' Cup, a book about a woman writing a book, and some nature notes (because it's spring).

Copying a freelancing friend, yesterday my side-hustle company had an impromptu Christmas party. On a whim I dropped into the champagne bar at St Pancras, then joined carol-singing round one of the pianos. It was proper merry and Christmassy 😀🎄🤶

I’m at the launch of the latest wonderful book in the #FootballShorts series - David Winner’s book about Southgate. I’m proud my book stands in such great company!

When so many North East kids are told their dialect is “wrong” or “thick”, it’s great to see the #SAFC club shop shout it loud and proud
