I think this is really worrying. Surgeons giving their time and effort to research and paying for the profit of publishers. This kind of approach pushes small independent researchers out the market.

Had a scaphoid once - fixing a regrade and the screwdriver lost hold in the head - never mind, I thought, I’ll take it out and use another screw. Applied a pliar and the end snapped off, leaving a particularly unpleasant memory.

I think is anything loosens the blackness can’t be good for anyone! Also, it’s brittle so headless screws can fracture more easily with torque.
