I met young leaders from Indigenous and Global South communities around the world who talked to me about their their stake in this flawed, negotiation process and had powerful community stories of both resistance and innovation.

However, this April, I had the opportunity to travel to Brazil to learn from Amazonian peoples about their crucial work to protect their precious ecosystems, implement clean energy, maintain their culture, and fight to make this COP a "Nature COP" that centers Indigenous sovereignty.

There’s no revolution without base building and organizing. Deepening our political education and investing in alternative systems comes second to getting people through the door, and this campaign has a lot to teach us!

This is a moment of hope and celebration and not a time to flex your brosocialist theory that will just alienate the people that are now on your side on a bunch of key issues.

Flawed and corrupt and colonial as they may be, electoral campaigns provide an incredible opportunity to base build with ordinary people, to help create a stronger us versus them!
