I've said this before and I'll say it again, Republicans have been successful because they respond to what people say is important to them (the economy) while Dems tend to TELL them what should be important to them.

It means while abortion and weed are indeed turnout drivers, they aren't necessarily Democratic voter turnout drivers. It only scratches the surface, but there's a lesson for Dems: assumptions about who votes for what can backfire, and did with all the (pun intended) eggs in the abortion basket.
