Supposedly retired, addicted to books, dogs, horses, tea, chocolate - I could go on!
Known in our house as an inside-out dog!

They clearly will. Hoping your money situation improves soon - I know it gets depressing. Been there, have the t shirt, happy to have escaped it now - good luck to you too.

They've made it over to England now... I'm sure they'll get to you eventually! Maybe try posh shops? An expensive addiction🙃. But, if not, you have a lot of good food over there already - you'll be ok!

It's a village in Wales - where there's a waffle factory!

Tregroes waffles - could be leading you astray though - beware!

Here's an opportunity to pinch David Knopfler's recent phrase, 'the hard of thinking', because if this is what passes for political thinking from the leader of a political party...😟

If I hadn't left already, I'd be doing so now. Do they really believe they need potential Reform voters more than the rest of the Labour voters? I despair...
November 18, 2025 at 12:18 PM
Surely EVERYTHING is shorter than that🤣?

I still have a little song in my head that enables me to spell 'beautiful' - can't do without it!

At this point you can't feel any worse - so might as well do the exercise ( or a little bit of exercise!).
November 14, 2025 at 1:34 PM
I think there are distinctions between groups they really hate (that threaten their business interests), and groups they just want the rest of us to hate, so we don't focus on people we really have a reason to not like very much. Which would mostly be the far right (and their business interests)...

Has anyone ever told you that you have a gift for understatement?!
November 12, 2025 at 7:58 PM
You have sunshine??! West Wales seems to be doing Eternal Darkness - and it isn't even December yet...
November 12, 2025 at 10:56 AM
Ok, ok, we'll wait till it's out!
November 11, 2025 at 8:35 PM
"Toast" their profits seems particularly appropriate word choice.

Oh, I got in sooo much trouble for trying to dig a hole all the way through the desk during sewing lessons. Thought the teacher was going to go into orbit. The whole school must have heard her. And she only saw it after I'd started putting the brown paper back in to disguise its depth😉

If it's compulsory it's meaningless.
November 6, 2025 at 9:51 AM
Probably a great feminist too.

Even read the backs of cereal boxes in emergencies!

Some pensioners, but not all! I'm not denying that levels of benefits may be even more inadequate- but I'm still not accepting that it's an either/or situation. We should be able to provide decent levels of income for everybody, without playing off one sector against another.
October 26, 2025 at 2:28 PM
We have moved up the graph a bit then, thanks presumably to the triple lock - but less than £12,000 per year (full basic state pension) is still not a vast amount to live on for people who haven't got any workplace pension.
October 26, 2025 at 12:13 PM
Well, it is a terrible thing and the sort that just generates a gut reaction (and should!), but there's often this wish to play one (poor) group off against another - though you wouldn't expect it in the Guardian. Or am I too optimistic even about that?!
October 25, 2025 at 4:26 PM
You know, this is what I so like about Bluesky - people actually talk to each other, rather than just shouting!🙂
