As you can see by all of the scuff marks, it took an excessive amount of prying/leveraging to get the supports off of this print.
Trying to think of another way to get this print to work without breaking my fingers 😅

Got excited thinking that I may have gotten the print time down to 6 hours. The supports came off like a dream, but the results were incredibly mid.
I'm facing the facts - this print will take 10 hours for good quality haha.

I thought I'd try printing vertically w/o supports just in case it worked out (as it would have shaved 7 hours off of the 10 hour print time). The model was too stringy so I stopped the print.

The model printed, but the supports are very hard to remove - I couldn't remove all of the inner supports.
The print position also left a huge mark on the outside of the print which doesn't work for me.
I'll work on fixing these issues!

Reduced the print from 204g to 179g of PLA - a nice improvement.
I also tried to improve the print time (10 hours), but further optimizations didn’t help much with my setup.
Excited to see how this turns out!

Once I made the ocarina base, it was a simple matter of making cuts into the side of the ocarina that didn't penetrate the inside of the instrument to make it into a simple guiro.
Also, the supports came off surprisingly easily by hand!

It took about 10 attempts to get it right. Early versions weren't making sound at all or were making very poor quality sounds. The current version sounds good to my layman ear - I hope to have my musician friend print/test it soon!

The first version that I made -looked- like an ocarina, but didn’t produce any sound haha.
I still need to make a few more internal adjustments before moving on to fixing up the aesthetics, but it's coming along!
