Somebody asked me about my book cover design yesterday and I was reminded that shortly after she produced this delight, @jennicoutts.bsky.social won an *actual British Fantasy Award* for best artist (and was shortlisted for the next one too). I was so lucky to work with her!

It's not often someone takes a photo of me that I'm happy with, but I rather like this one – getting ready to go out out a couple of months ago.

Well I have to admit I'm more than slightly motivated by my sister, who has gone from being an OK artist to producing some absolutely amazing portraits (she's mostly doing Dean from Supernatural at the moment), simply by dint of practicing loads to take her mind off chemotherapy.

Finally home after my insane trip to France and back, to be greeted by a gorgeous copy of the book on Guillaume Lethière that I contributed to (editing some of the translations).

No matter how many times I take the Travemünde-Trelleborg ferry, I will never cease to be terrified by the chaos of the port area for cars. It's only playing video games that gets me through the unlit maze and around the frequent eruptions of juggernauts into my path.

I can't find the original @garius.bsky.social post, but people new to Bluesky should know that you are required to announce your arrival with a #ProofOfCat. (other animals also accepted). And don't forget the Alt text!

I used to take photographs, but since the pandemic I've just not been able to get back into it. I think it's because I don't really go to cities any more. Out in the sticks it's hard to suddenly encounter a bunch of people listening to electronic music in the rain (this was Barcelona).

Just spotted one of my book translations out in the wild at the Mullvad stand at Gothenburg book fair! "Total surveillance" explains who's using your data and for what purposes - and why you should be afraid. Very, very afraid. If you can pressure your MEP to vote against "chat control", do so.

For anyone else having problems posting images to Bluesky using #LibreWolf, it's a canvas access problem. You can find the solution on LW's FAQ, but essentially you need to look for the little image symbol in the padlock space next to the URL and click on it to allow access for Bluesky.

It's been stupidly warm and sunny (for September in Sweden) the last ten days or so, but at least the grapes planted by the previous owner of my house have come on a treat.
