Fair point but at least it wasn't gratuitous "The 100" type fridging, it was essential to the plot: no dead wife = no claustrophobic feeling of complete isolation = less freaking out = no pirate lady ship (PUN!).

This is actually better. The "no work" part is stupid. Many people can't afford to lose their jobs if they don't show up, and no-one will sacrifice the few precious days of holidays they have just to strike. That's a rich lib demand.

A whole week? It's never gonna work. Only rich or retired people can afford to not work without consequences for a whole week. For most of us, not showing up to work means fired.
