BOTTOM LINE: We have to assume that ordering the FEC and other regulators to answer to Trump's White House might mean we cannot count on federal climate regulations or oversight. If this order stands, it makes it all the more imperative to elect climate leaders to state, local, and county offices.

IMPACT ON CLIMATE: Though 'climate' is not mentioned in the EO—it's safe to assume Trump’s White House would not have 'ok-ed' the implementation of the 2024 SEC climate disclosure regulations, requiring companies to include climate-related info in annual reports and registration statements.

WHAT YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND: Demanding historically 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 agencies like the Securities & Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission and others to submit proposed regulations to the White House for review means the Trump administration effectively controls these critical regulatory bodies.
